Are we what we are thinking? The abandoned Karlín Barracks hosted one of the greatest contemporary art exhibition entitled AMIWHATIAMTHINKINGABOUT which consisted a variety of diverse contemporary artworks of leading artists in the form of paintings, installations, short films, performances and also workshops available for primary and secondary school students .
At the suggestion Cristina Maldonado, our lecturer for Ideas Generation in Prague College, a friend from the Foundation of Art and Design Program and I decided to venture out to the forgotten barracks to get inspired. The works of the artists mesmerized us, many different forms of media were incorporated into an artwork, both visually and auditorially fascinating, depicting the mind of their creators. Every room was set up in their own unique way, highlighting certain aspects, blurring some showing visitors a different perspective of viewing art.
The Mirror was one of the most unforgettable part of our trip to the exhibition. It is still unclear if this was intentional or merely remains of previous exhibition held here in the barracks, but it sure did leave a deep impression. Our curiosity lead us to a mysterious door at the end of a long corridor with "THE MIRROR" written above it. The door did not budge after a few attempts to open it, she peeked into the keyhole at my suggestion only to find an empty room behind the locked door, we were about to turn and leave when the words written on the wall caught our eyes : "Prague College : Foundation of Art and Design". My fellow confidante went still staring at the door as though her mind formulated no thoughts other than being shocked before exclaiming that it's her program. It was almost as if the Mirror was the mirror of her future, reflecting the possibilities of her future. Perhaps one day I would be able to witness her work exhibited, maybe even behind "THE MIRROR".
