Éntomos: Hulačová – Keresztes – Janoušek
Walk In, a piece by Anna Hulacova greeted visitors at the entrance, as if prompting them to enter Éntomos. The title of the exhibition originated from a greek term, “éntoma” which translates to insect or "cut up". Anna Hulačová and Zsófie Keresztes are rising surrealist artists whose works depict symbiosis between humans and insects in today's ecological crisis. In conjunction with the theme, František Janoušek, renowned Czech artist's illustrations to Maeterlinck’s book The Life of the Bee of 1935 was exhibited along with the sculptures of Hulačová's made of linden wood and honeycomb and Keresztes' covered in colourful mosaic. Despite the individual artistic languages, the works of the three featured artists compliment each other's work nicely. The simple and plain white cube surroundings and ensconced lights created a comfortable environment befitting the minimalistic visuals of the art pieces, contrary to the catastrophic connotations behind them.
